    1.4980 — DIN 2510 material code SD

    Material number 1.4980 (X6NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2 per DIN 267-13; also designated X5NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2 and equivalent to UNS S66286 / Alloy A-286) is an iron-nickel-chromium precipitation-hardening austenitic stainless steel superalloy. Per DIN 267-13 Table 2, supplied solution-annealed and precipitation-hardened (+AT+P), hardness 287 to 367 HV. Minimum service temperature −196 °C (cryogenic); maximum service 650 °C.

    Alloy summary

    1.4980 is iron-nickel-chromium based with nominal composition approximately 53 Fe – 25 Ni – 15 Cr – 2 Ti – 1.3 Mo plus small additions of vanadium, aluminium and boron. The alloy is age-hardenable, non-magnetic and oxidation-resistant. It retains tensile strength at elevated temperature and is used in aerospace jet-engine fasteners, industrial gas-turbine hardware, cryogenic service, and high-pressure DIN 2510 bolting in nuclear and offshore applications.

    1.4980 is covered by ASTM A453 grade 660, ASTM A638 grade 660, and AMS specifications including AMS 5525 / 5731 / 5732 / 5734 / 5736 / 5737.
